Dentures

This 61-year-old patient was faced with having to lose all his lower teeth due to severe gum disease that strangely did not affect his upper jaw as severely. Instead of suffering with traditional removable lower dentures that are always mobile, he desired a solution that would be more secure and provide a more realistic chewing experience. A fixed-removable option was selected: a denture that is removable, but is extremely secure when placed in the mouth.

This was achieved by the placement of five lower implants to support a titanium bar.  This bar was then used to support a denture that had a corresponding metal housing and locking pins that engage the bar.  The advantage?  A rigid lower arch that can provide a solid chewing experience while at the same time being easily cleansable by opening the locking pins and removing the denture.  This denture does not come out until the patient removes it himself!
